Ms. Thandiwe Ivy Reachable was elected as the Mayor of Letsemeng Local Municipality following the 2011 local government elections. She also serves as the Speaker of the Council. She was born in Koffiefontein and began her political career at an early stage. At school level, she participated in the SRC. After the unbanning of the ANC in 1990, she actively participated in the structures of the ANC and the ANC Women’s League.

She was elected during the first democratic elections in 1995 to the then Koffiefontein TLC, where she was served as a Deputy Mayor until 2000. She was then elected to the Xhariep District Council where she served from 2006 to 2008. She served as a member of the Mayoral Committee of the Xhariep District Council from 2008 to 2011. Reachable is also a member of the executive committee of the South African Local Government Association in the Free State.
